RFID Solutions

While stationary installations are now a mainstay for receiving and inventory applications, RFID technology provides opportunities for faster, smarter replenishment of the sales floor. The active sales floor can be scanned immediately and kept properly stocked. Items left in fitting room areas can be accounted for and put aways can be expedited. High value items and assets can be confined to the boundaries of the sales floor. Meidum crafts customer specific solutions based on Motorola's product offerings. Here are some of the ways to benefit from the current generation of product from Motorola.

The Motorola MC9090G-RFID mobile computer is a hand held device that reads all style of bar code labels as well as passive and active RFID tags. The MC9090G-RFID is ideal for use on the retail sales floor. RFID tags have become very affordable and item level tagging is now cost effective.

  • Locate individual items that are pending Put Away or Returns, even when the items are carelessly piled.
  • Retain sales by easily locating items that are in house but not on the rack or bin.
  • Cut shrinkage by keeping tight control of item counts and locations.
  • RFID reads are instantly transmitted to store inventory and sales applications over the wireless network.
  • Greatly shorten cycle count and physical inventory operations, a single read captures many tags.

Motorola's RD5000 Mobile RFID Reader meets the need of an RFID reader that is deployed on an immediate or portable basis. The RD5000 is designed to be self contained and mounted on portable carts, racks, conveyors, lifts and trucks. This device is ideal in the warehouse and retail environment in several ways.

  • Perform RFID receiving outdoors on items that do not come into the warehouse.
  • Bring the 'portal' to the product by mounting on fork lift trucks.
  • Self contained and rugged the RD5000 is ideal for temporary, seasonal expansion of shipping, receiving or warehouse operations.
  • Control shrinkage by deploying quickly to new or temporary facilities.
  • RFID read data is immediately moved to software applications by way of wireless network.

Traditional RFID applications can be applied with Motorola's FX7400 Fixed RFID Reader, but this next generation fixed point reader offers much more capability.

  • Higher read rates, easier installation and smaller footprint are combined with lower price point to make portal installations much more cost effective.
  • Asset management of tagged items becomes a practical solution with short ROI (Return on Investment).
  • Confine high value assets and product to specific regions within the facility.
  • Unobtrusively monitor contents of customers packages without line of sight reads. Cut shrinkage and product loss.

RFID Solutions in the Retail environment can include:

Real time inventory and item location.
Faster access to wanted items by virtue of locating specific, out of sight, items.
Highly accurate inventory based on actual on hand items. This type of inventory scan is available at any time.
Identify and reduce shrink, the ability to do multiple inventory counts during the day gives you time to take action, sooner, to reduce shrink.
RFID tagging can be extended to include assets such as portable terminals and printers, in tracking high value items.
